The protests against the water charges continue across the country and in Coolock last night protestors set fire to Irish Water registration packs.

A march and protest at Coolock Garda station saw a large number of the packs burned.

The video appeared on Éirígí’s Facebook page last night where Ciaran Heaphy is also quoted: “What is happening in this part of the city is unprecedented. The people are in the process of rising up against a system and a State that have inflicted injustice upon them for decades.”

Meanwhile other posts on the Facebook page included:

“If this uprising is to be successful,” Ciaran Heaphy continued, “We need to keep the anti-Water Tax movement rooted in the community and controlled by the community. Any attempt by any individual or political party to use this movement for their own narrow ends must be resisted. If we all work together there is a very real chance that the Water Tax can be defeated.”
