There could be some flooding over the next few days.
Met Éireann has issued a weather advisory for 10 counties as "persistent and heavy" rain is set to batter the country.
Valid from around 1.30pm on Tuesday (5 October) until 6am this coming Saturday, the advisory applies to Clare, Cork, Donegal, Kerry and Limerick as well as the province of Connacht.
According to Met Éireann, a band of rain is approaching from the Atlantic and is forecast to stall over the western half of the country on Thursday and Friday.
The weather forecaster has said this will lead to persistent and heavy falls in places and may result in some river flooding and localised surface flooding.
It also stated that the advisory will be updated on Wednesday morning and that further weather warnings may be issued.

As for its forecast for the week ahead, Met Éireann has said Wednesday will be cloudy and overcast, with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle which will be persistent at times across the west and northwest.
However, longer drier spells will develop in parts later with some brighter spells breaking through and the weather staying driest in the east.
Thursday will be another dull day with outbreaks of rain that will be heavy and persistent across Atlantic counties, though there will be some brighter spells across the midlands and east where it will stay driest again.
The outbreaks of rain will continue then into Friday, the heaviest of which will likely persist across Atlantic counties with the ongoing risk of localised flooding.
Like previous days, it will be mildest, brightest and driest across eastern counties.
Heading into the weekend, Saturday will see the outbreaks of rain lighten through the day before gradually clearing eastwards into the Irish Sea. Sunday will then be mostly dry with sunny spells.
