It will be a wet and windy day with widespread persistent or heavy rain and strong, gusty south to southeast winds, reaching gale force in some coastal areas. Clearer conditions and lighter southwesterly winds will develop along western coastal counties towards evening. Highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees. It will be a cool, bright day with sunny spells. There'll be some scattered showers over the western half of the country. It will be largely dry further east. Wednesday

It will be cold, breezy and mostly cloudy with some rain possible in Munster a few showers elsewhere. The best of any sunny spells will be over the northern half of the country. It will be very cold as an easterly airflow become established over Ireland. Daytime temperatures will range from 3 to 6 degrees. Sharp or severe frost will develop at night.
