More rain, you say?
Christmas is over and there was no sign of snow whatsoever.
Instead, we had to contend with plenty of rain, dark clouds and the other usual winter-associated weather staples.
Good news – that run of form is very much set to continue.
Met Éireann has officially issued a Status Yellow weather warning, with heavy rainfall and potential flooding on the horizon.
The warning concerns two counties in total – Cork and Kerry.
According to the national forecaster, persistent and, at times, heavy rain will lead to localised flooding across both counties.
Highest rainfall accumulations are expected in mountainous areas.
The warning is valid from 11am on Thursday morning (30 December) until 5am on Friday.
A general advisory for the entire country remains in place.
First issued on St. Stephen’s Day, the advisory refers to a wet and windy week, with spells of heavy rain, risk of localised flooding and strong winds all possible.
This advisory is valid until midnight on New Year’s Day.
