A weather warning has been issued for four counties today

Although today started out relatively nice, it's going to get very stormy, very quickly.

Following yesterday's weather warning, another one has been issued for heavy rainfall in the following four counties: Galway, Mayo, Clare and Kerry. This warning is in operation until 9 pm tomorrow evening and it's expected that there could be rainfall of 30 to 50mm in these areas. However, that nasty humidity isn't going anywhere either for temperatures could still reach highs of up to 18 degrees today.

Dry & bright in E now but scattered showers in W will become widespread this afternoon, some heavy with a risk of thunder. Highs 14 to 18C.

The national forecast says we can expect that "heavy rain will then move up across the country overnight, with the ongoing risk of thunder as well as localised flooding". Tomorrow should see the thundery conditions "retreat to Atlantic coastal counties" and this is likely to continue throughout most of the day with risks of spot flooding.
