Weather warning issued for all of Ireland this weekend

Yes, another weather warning.

The current wave of Met Éireann weather warnings continues with its latest alert for the entirety of the Republic of Ireland.

The Status Yellow rain warning was issued on Friday morning and will be in effect from 2am on Sunday until midnight on Monday morning. As of yet, no warnings have been issued for any of the six counties in Northern Ireland by the UK Met Office.

“High amounts of rainfall may cause some disruption and spot flooding, with highest amounts in mountainous areas,” the alert reads.

As for Met Éireann’s national forecast for the weekend, it says that Saturday looks set to be a mostly dry day with a mix of cloud and sunshine.

The best of the sunshine is expected across the north and east of the country, while there will be a few well-scattered showers mainly confined to the southwest.

Highest temperatures are forecast to range from 18 to 22 degrees.

However, while it will be mostly dry at first on Saturday night, cloud will thicken from the south and outbreaks of rain will spread across Munster and Connacht before dawn.

This rain will extend nationwide on Sunday, turning heavy and persistent with the possibility of localised flooding.

Maximum temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees are expected.

There will then be further outbreaks of rain overnight, again with the continued potential for spot flooding.

Showers are set to gradually ease and clear on Monday with dry and bright periods developing ahead of what appears to be a fairly dry start to next week.
