Met Éireann has issued a weather warning for six counties

It’s not good news if you’re living in the west of Ireland.

Barely a week seems to go by these days without a weather warning of some description being issued by Met Éireann and the latest one came into effect overnight. The status yellow wind warning was issued by Met Éireann at 4pm on Friday and applies to almost all of the western seaboard, with Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Clare, Kerry and Limerick set to be affected. The warning came into effect at 3am on Saturday and will remain in place until 6pm on Saturday, with gusts that will reach Gale Force 8 in some areas, and mean that wind speeds of between 60 and 65 km/h are to be expected. Exposed coastal areas are likely to be the worst affected on a day that has already promised heavy rain, starting in the south and west and spreading eastwards as the day progresses. As was the case last weekend, conditions are expected to improve by Sunday, which will be mainly dry with sunny spells and Monday will be even better again, with temperatures potentially reaching 20 degrees on another dry day. It’s a pity we’ve to wait until Monday for it, but we’ll take any bit of decent weather we’re given at this stage.
