A woman using a wheelchair has sadly died after entering the sea in Dublin on Monday.
The woman was in her 50s and entered the water at the East pier in Dun Laoghaire on Monday afternoon, which is known to be a popular walking spot.
Independent.ie reports that Gardaí and the Irish Coast Guard were called to the scene and her body and the wheelchair were recovered from the water at around 2.30pm.
Gardaí have confirmed that she was pronounced dead and a postmortem is expected to take place over the coming days.
Gardaí are also investigating all circumstances that led to the incident and her death.
Gardaí said in a statement: "Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances after the body of a female in her 50s was recovered from the Water at Dun Laoghaire at 2:30pm this afternoon, Monday 27th June.
"Her body has since been removed to the mortuary at Loughlinstown where a post-mortem will take place at a later date."
