William and Kate to visit Paris 20 years after Diana’s death

William hasn’t been to Paris since his mother’s tragic death there twenty years ago.

Now he and the Dutchess of Cambridge will spend two days in the city next month on a whistlestop tour that will see the couple attend eight formal engagements, including a black tie dinner.

The Daily Mail reports that the couple will visit Paris on St Patrick’s day, spending two nights in the city.

The visit is bound to be a very emotional trip for Prince William. Diana and her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, were killed in a car crash in the French capital in August 1997.

Prince Harry visited Paris in recent years to attend a rugby match but William, who rarely speaks about his mum in public, hasn’t visited since the accident.

He was just 15 when she died.

It’s believed the duke and duchess will stay with the British ambassador to France and the trip is being seen as particularly significant given Britain’s post-Brexit negotiations with the rest of Europe.

We can only imagine how painful it will be for the Prince – especially when he passes near the Alma bridge, where Diana spent her last moments of life.
