Tennis star Andy Murray has been bombarded with negative feedback and abusive comments on Twitter after he came out in support of Scottish independence this morning.
Murray had remained tight-lipped up until today, just hours before the polls opened, when he tweeted: “Huge day for Scotland today!”

The 27-year-old then received vicious abuse with one user tweeting that he wished the Scot had been killed in the Dunblane tragedy before branding him an “anti-British hypocritical little git.”
The user, known only as Harry S wrote: “@andy_murray Wish u had been killed at Dunblane, you miserable anti-British hypocritical little git. Your life will be a misery from now on.”
However, other Twitter users were quick to jump in and defend the 2013 Wimbledon champion who does not have a vote as he is not currently a resident in Scotland.
