A teenage girl in the UK has said that it was "surreal" to wake from a coma and learn that she had had a baby.

The 18-year-old suffered from a rare condition that meant she didn't know she was pregnant. Ebony Stevenson from Oldham fell ill at the beginning of December. She was hospitalised after collapsing and having a seizure at home, reports BBC News. Doctors told her mother Sheree that the teen was pregnant and that the seizure was as a result of pre-eclampsia. They realised that Ebony has a condition known as uterus didelphys, meaning she has two wombs. One womb continued to menstruate while her baby grew in the other one. The womb with her baby was positioned behind the first one, concealing the pregnancy. While in a coma, Ebony was induced and gave birth to a little girl via Cesarean section. She awoke to the news that she had become a mother after four days of being unconscious. Nurses introduced her to her baby, but Ebony was in shock. "It sounds awful now, but I asked them to take her away as I was so confused and sure they'd made a mistake," she said. "But my mum explained it all to me while the nurses were there and they gave my little girl back to me to hold properly for the first time. "Although I was so confused - and pretty scared - it was a beautiful moment and she was so quiet." Ebony named the little girl Elodie. Reflecting on the child's birth, she called it a "miracle". "Meeting my baby was so surreal. It felt like an out-of-body experience," she said. "I worried I wouldn't bond with my daughter because I had no time to get my head around her arrival, but I think she's amazing. "It's an absolute miracle. I wouldn't change Elodie for the world."
