Gardaí in Dublin have launched an investigation after a woman claimed that she was abducted and then raped by a man she met on dating site, Tinder.

According to The Sun newspaper, the woman said that she met the man in a coffee shop in the city before being forced to get into his car.

It has also been reported that the man drove the woman out the M50 where she was allegedly subjected to a sexual attack. He then, apparently, dropped her home.

The pair were believed to have been in contact via text message for four days prior to the incident, which is reported to have taken place last Thursday.

The accusation comes in the wake of a 43-year-old Dutch national who was recently arrested in Bangalore for allegedly raping a 33-year-old woman he met on Tinder.

Tinder is a popular dating app which uses people’s Facebook profile to connect them and find matches for them close by. Thousands of singles in Ireland use the dating app.
