A woman in her 40s has been arrested in connection with the deaths of three children found in a home in Co Dublin.

The bodies of nine year old Conor, seven year old Darragh and three year old Carla McGinley were discovered in the Parson’s Court, Newcastle house last Friday at approximately 7.45pm.

Their cause of death remains unknown.

The woman is currently being detained at Clondalkin Garda Station. She was found at the scene of the incident last week, and had been receiving medical treatment at Tallaght University Hospital.

Yesterday, the children’s father, Andrew McGinley, issued a statement regarding the deaths.

“There are no words,” he said. “There is only devastation, grief and anguish. Every breath is a struggle.”

“Conor, Darragh and Carla are adored. They all had beautiful, bright futures ahead of them with family, friends and a community who love them.

“To all parents, cuddle your children whenever you get a chance, tell them how much you love them as often as you can, spend every spare minute with them reading, playing and enjoying their wonderfulness.

“The future has now become our enemy but we will battle it every day to keep the memory of Conor, Darragh and Carla alive.”

Gardaí have asked the media to give the family privacy during this tragic time.
