A woman, aged in her 30s, has died following a single-vehicle car crash in Co Clare. The incident occurred at around 6.40pm on Saturday evening, near the village of Lahinch. The woman involved in the collision was pronounced dead at the scene. A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at Ennis Garda station. The road was closed off for examination by Gardaí and Forensic Collision Investigators, with local diversions in place. A Gardaí spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 6:40pm on Saturday, 19th February, 2022, at Lahinch, County Clare. "A female passenger of the car involved, aged in her 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. "No other serious injuries to persons was reported. "A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at Ennis Garda Station. "Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward." Any who was travelling in the area at the time, or those who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to come forward.
