What a nice token of gratitude.
One judge, Mr Justice Peter Kelly, has spoken of how appreciated he felt when one woman gifted him with a box of chocolates after he dealt with her case.
According to
The Irish Times, Mr Justice Kelly ruled for the woman to have her brain tumour removed, despite the woman at the time not consenting to have the surgery done.
The woman, upon revisiting Mr Justice Kelly and explaining why she was gifting him chocolates, said she wanted to apologise "for the confusion I caused by not giving permission to do the operation".
It's said the woman's tumour was the cause of her distortion of thinking, asking for the tumour to be left untouched.
Mr Justice Kelly said it was the first time in 20 years of his profession that he'd ever been thanked by someone from his courtroom, and despite judges not being able to receive gifts from people, he was happy to be thanked.
Mr Justice Kelly said he would be donating the gift of the chocolates to the nurses of St Francis' Hospice.
