A 26-year-old woman and her two young children were tragically killed on New Years Day.
Marissa Reynoso called 911 to report that her ex-boyfriend, 25-year-old Jorge Chavez, was trying to break into her home in West Colombia.
Less than a minute into the call Reynoso exclaimed that Chavez was carrying a gun. The emergency operator made several attempts to get Reynoso back on the phone but was unsuccessful.
According to reports from the Associated Press, police were dispatched immediately but by then Reynoso and her two children had been killed.
Chavez shot his former partner several times in the chest, shot his 3-year-old son in the back and their 1-year-old daughter in the chest before turning the gun on himself.
Reynoso and Chavez had dated for five years. The couple broke up in October 2016. Reynoso first reported Chavez to the police in November when he threatened suicide and said, “I’ll see you in heaven.”
