One woman in Japan has been left with burns after a surgery.

In Tokyo, one surgery patient has been burnt after lasers in the surgery were ignited by her farting.

According to The Huffington Post, the leak of the woman’s gas from her intestine combined with the laser left the woman’s legs and waist badly burned.

The incident happened at the Tokyo Medical University Hospital, in a surgery theater where no flammable items were found.

All the medical instruments and equipment in the room were also in mint condition, with no chance of flammability.

The woman, thought to be in her 30s was injured when a fart managed to ignite in the Shinjuku Ward.

The report into the incident said:

” When the patient’s intestinal gas leaked into the space of the operation (room), it ignited with the irradiation of the laser, and the burning spread, eventually reaching the surgical drape and causing the fire.”
