A woman who reported her alleged rape to police was then arrested on immigration charges.

The unnamed woman had travelled to the UK from Germany where she said she had been kidnapped and raped for a period of six months.

She was five months pregnant when she presented at sexual assault victims support centre, Havens, in London.

The woman, who is in her 20s, was then arrested by police officers in the centre.

The Independent reports that the woman was arrested on suspicion of entering the UK illegally on March 5, 2017.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said that immigration officers interviewed the woman before she went to the centre and then eventually arrested her there.

“She was arrested on suspicion of illegal entry into the UK and she was taken into custody at an east London police station.”

Politico reports that Havens has filed a formal complaint to Scotland Yard regarding the woman’s case.
