Bitter sweet.
A woman in America has welcomed a baby girl after using sperm from her late husband. Her husband, Wenjian Liu, was on duty as a police officer in New York, on December 20th, 2014, when he was killed in a shooting.
He was in his patrol car at the time, along with his partner Rafael Ramos.
His wife Pei Xia Chen made a request for some of his sperm to be frozen as they had only been married three months and they planned on having a family together.
On Tuesday, Pei welcomed a baby girl Angelina.
Wenjian’s mother confirmed the news to New York Daily News, saying, “Her name is Angelina, like an angel, like my son is an angel. I’m just so happy.”
She added, “She looks like my daughter-in-law. But this part, the eyes and the forehead, looks like my son. The top of the face looks like my son. The bottom looks like her mother. The head looks exactly like my son. I see my son in her.”
