Woman's body discovered in Co Clare waters as investigation launched

The discovery was made earlier this week.

An Garda Síochána have launched an investigation after the body of a woman was found in Co. Clare.

As reported in The Irish Mirror, the woman's remains were discovered in water near O'Brien's Bridge on the Clare/Limerick border on 29 November.

Gardaí, the Coast Guard and the local fire and ambulance services attended the scene and the woman's body was taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick.

The local coroner has been informed.

In a statment, the Gardaí said: "Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a body of a woman in the environs of O’Brien’s Bridge in County Clare on Monday, November 29, 2021.

"The local coroner has been notified and the body has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick."

A spokesperson for the Killaloe Coast Guard also confirmed that they attended the scene.

Their statement read: "Killaloe Coast Guard unit were requested by An Garda Síochána for assistance at 9am Monday morning, November 29.

"The unit deployed teams to O’Brien’s Bridge, Co Clare and the incident was resolved a short time later.

"Also tasked were Killaloe Fire and Rescue and National Ambulance Service."

The Coast Guard unit then passed on their condolences to the family.
