The body of a woman has been found in a burning car in Co. Cork.
Gardaí are investigating the scene near Doneraile in north Cork, where the woman’s remains were discovered at around 4.30pm today. She is believed to have been in her 70s.
After the fire service attended the incident, a man was rescued from a nearby river. He was tended to at the scene. He has since been moved to a local hospital and understood to be in a serious condition.
RTÉ News reports that Gardaí are not looking for anybody else in relation to the incident.
