Do you work for yourself? If so… you can now register for a FREE teeth clean

Those gnashers are going to be gleaming.

Self-employed people are now able to avail of a free teeth and optical check up. It was announced in the Budget that  measures, which were once removed from all PRSI workers, are being returned.

From today, and for the first time, self-employed people can now get free dental and optical exams through their social insurance contributions. This includes small business owners, farmers, tradespeople, freelancers, contractors, and professionals.

Speaking today, The Minister for Social Protection Leo Varadkar said the treatment benefit will now extend to 450,000 self-employed workers,

 

Since 2010, some €500 million worth of cuts have been made to free dental benefits, as subsidies for cleaning, fillings, and root canal treatments were abolished.
