They hang out in the womb for 22 months, so it’s safe to say that even before birth elephants are rarely in a rush.
One elephant has just ended a 100 year wait at Dublin Zoo though, as Upali the elephant’s arrival marks the first time an adult bull has joined the zoo in over a century.
Seventeen year old Upali has come to Dublin from Chester Zoo, and will be here for the next fifteen to twenty years, hopefully helping to produce three or four baby elephants in the next few years with the four female resident elephants at the zoo; Anak, Asha, Bernadine and Yasmin.

He seems to be getting on well, here's a pic of Upali and some other members of the herd just tweeted by Dublin Zoo.
