There’s arguably no bigger event in sport than a World Cup final, and this summer it’s been the best female players from across the globe competing for the honour of lifting the coveted trophy for their country. There’s been cracking goals, penalties scored and saved, controversial VAR calls, and incredible displays of skill – all culminating in a final 90 minutes at the State de Lyon in France.
Indeed, 2019 has been a watershed year for women in sport, with increased coverage through campaigns such as 20×20 shining a new spotlight on the achievements of female athletes in a wide range of sporting disciplines. This new momentum reaches a crescendo with the pinnacle of the sporting calendar, the FIFA Women’s World Cup Final.
So it’s fitting that PlayXPlay – the ground-breaking women’s sports show from Her and SportsJOE, in partnership with AIG – is going live for the occasion. Tickets for the event, which takes place on Sunday July 7 at Tramline in Dublin, are completely FREE.
On the day, PlayXPlay’s Jenny Murphy will be joined by a panel of experts for a pre-match discussion on how the tournament has played out, what it’s done for the global profile of women’s sport and, of course, an in-depth preview of the game ahead.
Doors open at 2.30pm and there will be complimentary refreshments before the game kicks off at 4pm.
