It’s hard to believe that Her.ie girls Amy and Patricia have already been on their Weight Watchers plan for a whopping 10 weeks. During that time the girls have reached goals, dropped dress sizes and learned a lot about themselves and their eating habits.
This week, the girls are talking about comfort food, joining the gym and learning how to be flexible when your plans fall through.
Twice a week, Amy and Patricia will be giving an in depth look at what it’s really like to live life while following the Weight Watchers plan. To keep up with the girls’ journey make sure you check out their previous diary entry by clicking here.

Sometimes life gets in the way of even the best laid plans and that’s exactly what happened this weekend. What was meant to be a quiet weekend in was instead filled with social activity and meeting up with friends and you know what? It was so much fun I’m wondering why I wanted a quiet one in the first place!
However, with socialising comes the temptation of takeaways and a few drinks and I’ll admit that my willpower dissolved somewhere around Saturday evening. I enjoyed a few drinks (all with diet mixers) and I did have a not-so-sneaky Chinese.
However, rather than going for fried rice and chicken balls, I opted for boiled rice and a vegetable-laden chop suey, so I’m hoping that I managed to stay realtively within my allowance. I still had my 49 weekly ProPoints, so it was great to have that safety net.
To be honest, I’m finding the cold weather a little hard to deal with and I know I’m not the only person who just wants to wrap up warm and exist on a diet of comfort food as soon as the temperatures start to drop outside. However, myself and my other half took advantage of a special offer at our local gym and I’m hoping that we’ll be able to motivate each other to get some more exercise in.
One of the best things about a gym at this time of year is that you can’t use the cold weather as an excuse not to exercise, which in my case is a very good thing. Also I know that myself and himself will motivate each other to get off the sofa and hit the treadmill, so I’m feeling positive about it.
After last week, I’m not really sure how my weigh-in will go on Wednesday. As always I’m hoping for a minus. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!

Hi everyone! The weather has been so miserable this weekend that it’s been really hard to find the motivation to get out for a walk. After avoiding my walk for Friday and Saturday I knew I had to get out on Sunday whether it was pouring or not and once I did it I really felt better for it.
I think the cold weather really makes you crave heavy hearty foods but I’ve found that my batch of 0 ProPoints soup has really hit the spot and it is very satisfying. Often when I’m really hungry I just eat anything I see and having the soup in the freezer ready to heat up has helped me curb my hunger until I get the chance to make a healthy meal.
I love curries and pastas but since joining Weight Watchers I have been making my own sauces from scratch and avoiding ready made jars completely and I feel it has really made a difference. Tins of chopped tomatoes have become my cupboard staples and my homemade sauces are most definitely a lot tastier than the high ProPoint alternatives.
Every shopping trip I have been arming myself with my Weight Watcher calculator and checking everything and the process is a real eye-opener.
In last week’s class we discussed mindless eating and I definitely feel that this is a problem of mine. Each evening I now make sure to give myself the time to eat my dinner without the TV or other distractions. It is easier for your body to recognise that you are full if you are giving it your full attention. I also feel that I am a bit of a picker sometimes while I am cooking dinner and I have put a stop to this because it is a sure way to pick up unnecessary ProPoints.
As always heading to class has given me motivation for the coming week and lots of recipe ideas and tips to try so I hope this week is another happy week on the Weight Watchers scales!
