Her.ie girls Amy and Patricia are nearing the end of their Weight Watchers challege. With only two weeks left to go, the girls have already reached goals, dropped dress sizes and learned a lot about their eating habits.
This week the girls are talking about trying to stay on track, filling up on healthy salads and finding their motivation for Valentine’s Day next month.
Twice a week, Amy and Patricia will be giving an in depth look at what it’s really like to live life while following the Weight Watchers plan. To keep up with the girls’ journey make sure you check out their previous diary entry by clicking here.

Well, I survived the weekend although in the spirit of full disclosure, my ProPoints took a severe battering. We had a double celebration in the family this weekend – both my Dad and my Aunt had their birthday, so there was a major surprise party and as such, there was lots of food and drink.
I had the best intentions to plan everything and stick to my ProPoints but after a few drinks, my willpower did crumble on Saturday night and for the past few days I’ve been struggling to get myself back on the Weight Watchers bandwagon.
I’m fine when I have my usual routine to stick to but when my routine is upset I tend to go a bit off the walls with regards to the types of food that I eat (despite my best intentions, believe me!).
I’m actually heading away again this weekend and I’m genuinely going to try and plan as best as I can before I leave Dublin. It is hard though when life gets in the way and I bet that I’m not the only person who struggles with this problem. It’s hard to stay on plan when the rest of your family is wants to eat out or have a few drinks!
The good news is that I’ve finally found my motivation when it comes to exercising. I’ve been trying to do a bit more on that front and I’m hoping that doing more cardio will help to lessen the effects of the weekend.
I’m heading to the gym tonight and I’m feeling good about hopping on the cross trainer and trying to rack up the steps (and the Activity ProPoints) on my Weight Watchers pedometer.
Aside from that I’m just going to try and be as good as I can in terms of what I eat over the next few days. I’m not expecting a miracle on the scales on Wednesday but as long as I stay the same, I won’t be too disheartened.

There’s only two weeks left in this Weight Watchers challenge and I’m determined to get below 14 stone. I’m so filled with motivation that I’ve even been venturing outside for walks in this heinous weather although I’m pretty sure the wind carried me most of the way!
Because of the cold I have found myself a lot hungrier so on Friday I found my biggest bowl and made a huge salad for the weekend. I think it’s a great filler that makes your dinner feel more substantial which I love. I have always loved spinach and rocket and they really make a pleasant alternative to boring iceberg lettuce.
Since Christmas, many of my friends are not so keen on heading out and it has really benefited me. I think alcohol is such an easy way to lose ProPoints fast and it can be hard to monitor your intake especially when someone else may be a generous pourer. However, on Friday I was coaxed into a few drinks and while everyone else was having beer and red wine, I decided to stick to my spirit and diet mixer and I knew I would be happy with my choice in the morning.
Hangovers are the worst when it comes to a wavering motivation so I made sure my fridge and fruit bowl was stocked up with healthy snacks. I also made some sugar free jelly, which I had with a Light Choices chocolate mousse from Tesco and it satisfied my sugar craving. I knew I would be lazy so I had a Weight Watcher Shepard’s Pie in the freezer so I wouldn’t be tempted to indulge in crap and I felt really better for it.
At the moment, my class’s focus is on Valentine’s Day. I want to be a few more pounds down before then and I really think it helps setting yourself small reachable goals instead of dreams that right now seem unrealistic. I hope this week on the scales brings another success.
