3 classic runner styles that will keep you on trend for the season ahead

Cassie Stokes

The ultimate companion to have when it comes to styling an outfit for a more casual look: runners.

Now, I’m not talking running shoes or your workout trainers or the average pair you might have bought a few years ago because everyone was getting on the trainer bandwagon.

I’m talking chic runners that will accompany the most stylish outfits and keep you walking your way through the season in impeccable style.

There are a few styles that seem to stay around season after season and a few additions which may look a bit out there, but if you have the confidence to rock them they will have heads turning.

Here are a few pairs that you might want to invest in over the next few months.

Simple trainer

Converse are one of my all time favourite pairs of shoes, I have had mine for about 7 years. You can’t go wrong with a pair of Converse, these will stay with you for a few years and are still loved by stylists around the world. And the best part is that they’re on the cheaper side of things too.

Veja have been the runners of the moment for the last few years because of their ethical production line and stylish appearance.

Most celebs will have a pair of these and you should too, they’ll pair with any casual look and they are most definitely not going out of trend anytime soon.

High top trainers

Vans, another old school favourite like Converse. The original high-top black and white pair will be perfect with a pair of skinny jeans and a nice big coat for the season ahead and when summer comes back around they’ll look just as good with a pair of shorts.

Nike, these old school basketball trainers have been popping up on fashion bloggers feet on Instagram lately, Rosie Connolly has been spotted rocking a pair and we think you could too.

They’re simple in white with a colourful tick and will go with a skirt just as well as they’d pair with some casual activewear.

Big statement trainers

I really thought these massive runners would be here for a season and then disappear back to where they came from, but big runners are here to stay.

They’re not for everyone but they are on trend and Adidas might be the best place to go check out their Yung series, big and bold, chunky and stylish.

Nike also do a nice chunky trainer if you want to be brave and go for that bolder look.
