Mireya Briceno was sent home from her high-school prom last Friday because her dress was viewed as too revealing.

The full-length blue and white polka-dot print dress was in violation of Muskegon High School’s strict dress code, according to reports.

The dress code at the Michigan school states that “When you look at yourself in the mirror, there should be no skin showing around the midriff area” but in this case, the back of the teenager’s dress caused the problem.

“I felt she was classy and elegant…she was perfect,” Connie Briceno, Mireya’s mother, told American new outlet M Live.

“She called me from the parking lot…she got in her car and started crying”.

Connie said that her daughter entered the prom wearing her boyfriend’s jacket because it was cold outside and an hour later, she was asked to leave the party.

Brad Perkins, principal of Muskegon High School, told the same news outlet that students were made aware of the rules before buying tickets.

“The key is they want to have clear expectations,” said the principal. “Everybody likes to know what the expectation is”.
