Are You Planning a Wardrobe Clear Out? Now is the Perfect Time to “Give Up Clothes For Good”

Now is the perfect time for a wardrobe clearout...

Rebecca McKnight

Could you do with a clear out? TK Maxx are asking you to give your unwanted clothing, accessories and household items to Ireland’s biggest and longest running clothes collection; Give Up Clothes for Good.

The Give Up Clothes for Good campaign, developed by TK Maxx, sees all donations going to Enable Ireland who sell the clothes in their stores to raise funds to support services for children and young people with disabilities. Niamh Moriarty has Spastic Dyplegia, a form of Cerebral Palsy which affects her lower limbs and she and her family are one of the many that depend on Enable Ireland for much-needed support including physiotherapy.

TK Maxx provide Give Up Clothes for Good bags in-store. Every donation makes a difference, as each bag could raise up to €20 to support services for children like Niamh.

Over 5,620 bags have been donated to Give Up Clothes For Good in 2014 with over €74,419 being been raised so far this year, and it is hoped that this will increase further as people do a summer clear out ahead of the winter months. Since 1997, TK Maxx customers and associates have raised over €1.15million to support services for thousands of children and young people with disabilities and their families in local communities in 14 counties.

Commenting on the partnership, Cheryl Warobick Regional Operations Director at TK Maxx Ireland said, “We are always amazed at the generosity of our customers and employees who support this campaign. We hope that this campaign will continue to generate the much needed funds to support children and young people in our communities. This year has seen record breaking donations and we are hopeful of its continued success.”

Customers can pick up Give Up Clothes for Good bags in-store now but any bag can be used for donations, from carrier bags to bin bags. TK Maxx can accept clean clothing, shoes and accessories, ornaments, towels and linen, crockery, cutlery and glassware, books, collectables and antiques, CDs, DVDs and mobile phones.
