Barbie’s Getting a Makeover Via One Fashion Item We Thought She’d NEVER Own

A limited edition doll is also on the way.

It’s Barbie, like you’ve never seen her before.

The peerless plastic lady has rocked a lot of look in her time, but the one fashion item you’ve never seen her in before happens to be a wardrobe staple for most of us. Barbie just got a pair of flats.

Designer Sophia Webster, famed worldwide for her cute, kitsch and colourful shoes, has paired with the Mattel favourite for a new collection. Inspired by Barbie herself, it will come as no surprise that the signature hue is a sugary pink.

Speaking to Vogue, Webster said: “Creating a shoe collection for Barbie has always been my dream project, but getting to be a part of her embracing flats for the first time made it extra exciting, and deeply personal.”

“I love that this concept strikes a balance between dreams and reality – the idea of getting Barbie in some hi-tops and setting her loose in East London instantly appealed.”
