Value vintage: 5 of the best (reasonable) vintage shops in Dublin and Cork

Cassie Stokes

Just because it’s old doesn’t mean it’s cheap! Here are some of the best places to get vintage and not break the bank.

You may be one of those people who spent all their hard earned cash on fast fashion during lockdown… or you might not. We’re not judging. But lockdown saw a huge increase in fast fashion orders and of course it was a little more difficult to go down the sustainable fashion route.

Well, lockdown has eased now and you can leave your neighbourhood and step your feet in shops IRL, while wearing a mask of course.

Now it’s time to be a little more conscious of your shopping habits and the effects they have on our planet, so second hand shopping is really where it is at. Here in Ireland we have some pretty amazing vintage shops with some unbelievable finds hanging on hangers waiting for you to find them.

The one thing to note about vintage shops is that sometimes they can actually be way more pricey than expected, old clothes don’t always mean they’re cheaper. That’s why it’s important to go to the right place and find some good deals and not break the bank.

Let’s start with a few of the best value vintage shops in Dublin.

The Harlequin

The Harlequin in the city centre is the oldest and, according to their bio “most loved” vintage clothing store in Dublin.

Their pieces range in price but usually you will walk out of here with at least one really good bargain. They sell vintage men’s and women’s clothing and accessories online in store and online too.

Nine Crows

Nine Crows market is probably the most Instagrammed vintage shop in Ireland. Anyone who has dabbled in the world of second hand clothing knows this place – you get your moneys worth and honestly you will be walking out of here with a bag full of colourful tops for less than twenty euro.

Cork

Daisy Blue

One of our favourites in Cork is Daisy Blue, which the two ladies who run Sustainable Fashion Dublin are a massive fan of.

They have some one of a kind incredible pieces that you won’t find anywhere else. If you’re looking for something a bit more dressy then this place is where you need to go.

Peach Vintage

Peach Vintage in Cork is another shop filled with what they call “pre-loved” pieces of clothing.

Have a look at their Instagram and you will be able to see their latest additions to their line of clothes, most of which are great value for money.
