Designer tries to call scrunchies ‘hair clouds’ and charges €100 for them

Ah, here

Olivia Hayes

Here we go.

They’ve been around for decades, and have recently come back into fashion – but please, don’t try change their name.

Yep, we’re talking about the lovely scrunchie.

Even when they weren’t in fashion, we’d wear one around the house and in bed as to not break or damage our hair.

They were popular when we were kids and young teens, and over the past couple of years, they’ve resurfaced hugely on the fashion scene.

Everyone from Kendall to Mariah is wearing them… so for some reason, a Danish designer decided to millennial up the name by calling it a… hair cloud.

And the worst thing? She’s charging nearly €100 for them.

Sander Johansen, the designer, told WWD that she had mixed feelings calling them scrunchies because the new name is “based on the idea of them looking like silk clouds around the hair, when tied a bit effortless in a bundle.”

Now, that price may (maaaaaay) be justifiable since they’re made out of old Hermés scarves, but still, we won’t be running to buy any hair clouds anytime soon.
