Seeing spots? We’d be surprised if you weren’t – they’re everywhere at the moment.

Monochrome spot patterns have taken over the high street and we’re fully on board.

One of our favourite takes on the trend has come from good old Penneys.

This black and white crop top is slightly abstract and makes more of a statement than ditsy polka dots.

It’s just €8, making it one of the best-value trend pieces you’ll buy this season.

We were delighted when we spotted it (pun intended), especially when you consider that you’d spend a lot more on a very similar top in Topshop.

The Topshop version is €44 – not a crazy price for a nice top but a hell of a lot more than you’d pay in Penneys.

As for how we’d style it? Both Penneys and Topshop have played it safe here – a pair of jeans or a black skirt is grand but we feel you’re letting the fun of the top go to waste if you don’t add some colour.

Jewel tones are the perfect accompaniment to black and white. Here are a few pieces we’ve picked to pair it with.

River Island skirt, €50

Topshop trousers, €60

Zara skirt, €19.95
