The Emmys saw gents pour their curves into these brave style choices

Men in tuxedos? It'll never catch on

Ciara Knight

The 69th Emmy Awards took place last night. Nice.

As always, the fashion efforts were exemplary, with many stars choosing to wear the boldest outfits the world has ever seen. Truly, they were a sight to be hold. In these uncertain times, it’s comforting to see that nothing can hold style back.

Let’s park the gals for now, they all look the same anyway! All eyes were on the men of this year’s Emmys and they certainly delivered in the style department.

Here’s our top 5 best dressed Emmy attendees.

Milo Ventimiglia

Rub your eyes, then rub them again because you are not imagining this. Milo Ventimiglia IS WEARING A TUX. AT THE EMMYS. The This Is Us star poured his curves into a comfortably fitting black tuxedo, paired with some black shoes, a white shirt, and a black dickie bow. Not one to conform to the norm, Milo also slipped his dainty wrist into a watch and adopted a heartburn pose for the camera. With style like this, it’s easy to understand why he’s catapulted to fame this year. That snooty guy off Project Runway described Milo’s efforts as:

“WOW. Breathtaking bravery. A tuxedo to an awards ceremony? This guy must have inhaled Vicks Vaporub or something”.

Aziz Ansari

The Master of None proved himself to be a master of fashion as he made the mind-blowingly bold choice to wear a tuxedo to the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards. Aziz, ever the market leader in style, chose to team his black suit with a white shirt and black shoes, topped off with a black dickie bow. Karl Lagerfeld, the head creative director of Chanel, described Ansari’s outfit as “a pivotal moment for fashion. We haven’t before nor will we ever see the likes of his kind again”. Here at Her, we’re inclined to agree. A black suit with a white shirt? It’s like spiders and canapés, but somehow it works.

Alexander Skarsgard

I am literally shaking as I type this because I cannot stand the bravery displayed by Alexander Skarsgard at last night’s Emmy Awards. The Big Little Lies actor showed his knowledge of what’s in this season by having the courage to shun all fashion expectations and turn up in a black tuxedo to the Emmys. He paired it with some black shoes, a white shirt and – GET THIS – a black dickie bow. All eyes were on him as he made his way through the Microsoft Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles, silencing the critics by failing to show any skin. Skarsgard is living proof that the fashion rulebook continues to write itself.

Sterling K. Brown

Pick your jaw up off the floor because what I’m about to say is important. Sterling K. Brown WON the Emmys last night. He literally won an Emmy, but also he won the overall experience. The 41-year-old father of two’s figure was flawless in a black tuxedo paired with some black shoes, a white shirt, and a black dickie bow. Where did his inspiration come from? Was he destined to stand out among the crowd? HOW did his figure bounce back so quickly after becoming a Dad TWICE? It’s simple, the man is a living breathing wizard and we are simply occupying his airspace. Give the man every Emmy in existence because he is a style icon.

Riz Ahmed

Brits know a thing or two about style and Riz Ahmed is no exception. He walked into the Emmys like a total boss, stunning the onlookers with his black suit teamed with black shoes, a white shirt, and a black bowtie. Have we ever seen such bold fashion choices before? Never. Will we ever see them repeated again? Unlikely, nobody could possibly summon the necessary levels of bravery. We’re all living in 2017, while Riz is out there in 3017 making something as unexpected as a tuxedo the norm. In a way, he won two awards last night: Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series AND Most Daring Fashion Choice The World Has Ever Seen.

Ty Burrell

Hello, Police? I’d like to report a crime. Our hearts have been stolen by Ty Burrell because he has worn what is widely considered to be the most progressive and inspirational outfit of 2017. The Modern Family guy somehow settled on wearing a black tuxedo, paired with black shoes, a white shirt, and a black dickie bow. How does one even arrive at that decision whilst allegedly sane? Onlookers were said to be “shook”, and “couldn’t even”. Ty Burrell? More like FLY Burrell because that man is really making a name for himself in the fashion world. Save and print this image because you’re going to be seeing the same style over and over again this awards season. Remember, you saw it here first.
