Gucci teams up with illustrator for 'tongue in chic' collection
We'll take all the t-shirts please.
The Creative Director of Gucci, Alessandro Michele, is making waves within the company by collaborating with street artists and illustrators, in their latest offering they've teamed up with British illustrator Angelica Hicks to create a limited editon collection of t-shirts.
Angelica is know for her no-nonsense approach to popular culture and she's already made the fashion world sit up and take notice with her book 'Tongue in Chic: The Fabulous Fashion World of Angelica Hicks'
According to Vogue her Gucci collection touches on "politics, board games, inclusivity and some really silly puns".
Only 100 of each t-shirt will be made, all coming in a vintage-style metal box.
The fashion house announced the collaboration with a mural in Milan... go big or go home right?
The Milan #GucciArtWall by @angelicahicks is revealed on Largo La Foppa, in the city’s lively pedestrian district of Corso Garibaldi. Hand-painted on the wall: one of the 11 designs by the British illustrator that feature on the limited edition T-shirt collection launching on May 25 exclusively on Gucci.com in Europe and the US. #GucciGeeks #AlessandroMichele
They also decked out a wall in Soho in NYC;
@angelicahicks, here against the #GucciArtWall in Soho, NY featuring one of her drawings, collaborated with Gucci on the 11 designs for a T-shirt collection available exclusively on Gucci.com in US and Europe from May 25. Only 100 units of each style have been produced, for a total of 1,100 pieces. Similar to an art print, every T-shirt in the collection is numbered with a dedicated label (e.g. 1/100). #GucciGeeks #AlessandroMichele
The designs on the shirts feature fun illustrations including “The Gospel According to Gucci” and a tribute to British singer, Florence and the Machine.
They'll be available from the online Gucci store from May 25th.
If Angelica's Instagram is anything to go by... we're in for a treat.
