Happy Birthday Tommy Hilfiger – Non-Fashion Things We Love Him For

If you're of a certain age, chances are Tommy Hilfiger was possibly your first foray into the world of designer fragrances. Or possibly your first foray into designer clothing - hello pale pink aertex t-shirt. 

But, it's not just our first tentative attempts at preppy chic that Tommy is responsible for. He's also done lots of other things too! Here we look at a few of the reasons why Tommy Hilfiger will always have a place in our hearts.

Rich Girls:

Remember the MTV reality show Rich Girls starring Tommy's eldest daugher Ali and her annoying friend Jaime? The girls were barely out of high-school, thought they knew EVERYTHING and made absolute eejits of themselves. And we loved every single minute. We wonder where Jaime is now... and if she's still a virgin. 

He brought Zoolander back:

Charitable and able to poke fun at himself, Tommy took to the stage as part of Comedy Central's Night Of Too Many Stars. Tommy didn't technically do anything funny, but anyone who brings Zoolander back is ok in our books.

American Idol:

Having sold his eponymous label for billions, Tommy's now a free fashion agent and last year decided to turn his hand to American Idol, to help make the sartorially challenged wannabe stars just that bit more aesthetically pleasing. But not everyone wanted his help and a few fashion disasters ensued. At least he tried though!
