In Pictures: Oscar de la Renta at New York Fashion Week

Feminine florals and beautiful shapes.

Cathy Donohue

If you’re a Sex and the City fan, you’re likely to be familiar with designer Oscar de la Renta, a favourite of Carrie Bradshaw.

He designed the pink dress she wore in the “Date with the Russian” episode where Carrie goes on a date to the Metropolitan Museum with Alexander Petrovsky and they end up in McDonalds.

De la Renta showed at New York Fashion week on Tuesday and we have to say it is one of the highlights of the week (together with Monique Llhuillier, Reem Acra and Carolina Herrera).

We could go on and mention every show as we loved every collection from this particular season but that would turn this article into an essay.

Voluminous balloon skirts adorned with floral patterns and show-stopping floor-length gowns took our breath away but just as gorgeous were the gingham co-ordinates and feathered dresses.

The designer once said “I just want to make beautiful clothes” and we have to say he’s definitely succeeded with this objective!
