However, it was also pointed out that this gown, albeit in a shorter version, has also been worn by Meghan Markle, none other than Prince Harry's girlfriend (and soon to be sister-in-law if the rumours are to believed).
Kate was pictured in the dress back in November 2014 when pregnant with Princess Charlotte and Megan wore a shorter version of the item in a navy colour at an event in 2012 so you could say the actress wore it first.
This is the same dress by the same designer, just in a different colour and as mentioned above, Meghan's is a shorter length.
According to reports, this is the Zarita lace gown by Diane Von Furstenberg and it retails at $900 (around €1000) but it's sold out at the moment.
The gala was held in support of the Anna Freud Centre, a charity that supports children's mental health and which Kate is a patron of.
As you'll see in the video below, the expectant mum met children and their parents at the event and as fans of the Duchess know, she is a huge advocate for mental health.
