Earlier this week, Kate Middleton and her husband, Prince William, travelled to Blackpool where they were updated with what's happening in the area at the moment. Speaking about the official events, a statement from Kensington Palace said:

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were in Blackpool to visit innovative projects focused on investment and regeneration, and to learn how the resort is leading the way in tackling some of the social and mental health problems faced by people in Britain today".

Before the royal visit, Kate and William were pictured walking to the helicopter and surprisingly, they were holding hands. It's been noted that the Duke and Duchess rarely engage in public displays of affection in stark contrast to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who are almost always holding hands. What's the reason for this? According to Marie Claire, the Queen might have an influence on Kate and William's decision to steer away from PDAs. The Queen and Prince Phillip have rarely been pictured holding hands throughout their 70 years and could this have had a bearing on the Cambridges? Body language expert, Myka Meier, the founder of Beaumont Ettiquette, previously discussed the subject in detail with People magazine. Myka acknowledged that while holding hands is a departure from the norm for royal couples, it isn't against royal protocol and there's no rule to say that they can't do so. Perhaps we'll see more public affection from Kate and Will in future?
