The largest Zara store in the world is going hi-tech and we’re very impressed

The sheer size of the new flagship Zara store in Madrid has our minds reeling and our palms sweating.

The 65,000 square foot store opened on Friday and it’s unsurprisingly located in the company’s home country of Spain — specifically, in Madrid’s financial center, at Paseo de la Castellana.

We’re just adding this to the list of reasons why we need to move to Spain.

We’re pretty sure we’d have to block off an entire day to spend moseying through the shop and the fashion folks (gods) over at Zara are now bringing in a system that could cut your wait time in half and generally make the entire process of shopping a bit easier.

This is GREAT news for the shopper in us and horrific news for our wallets. Meh… disposable income is over-rated.

According to Teen Vogue, Zara is embracing the digital age and incorporating self-checkouts and interactive dressing rooms into the new store.

The smart dressing rooms will include a tablet to make it easier for shoppers to request their sizes. Shoppers can also look up recommendations from Zara’s website or request assistance from sales assistants in store. If that’s not enough, the system also offers extra information on how many items of each product are in store and where they are located.

For crying out loud.

They’ve yet to confirm whether these changes will be rolled out at other stores, but it’s safe to say we’ll be keeping an eye out and we’ll update you as soon as we know.

This could be very dangerous for us all, we’ve already checked flights to Madrid.
