Three cheers for helping the environment.

Lidl Ireland is set to launch a new range of environmentally-friendly runners made entirely from recycled plastics that were bound for the ocean.

The range will launch in all 163 Lidl stores in Ireland this July 30 and will be available in both ladies’ and men’s styles. Each shoe is made using around 11-16 polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles that are pressed, cleaned, shredded, and then processed into sustainable yarn. And we have to say, they look pretty snazzy and very comfy.

The designer-inspired footwear contribute the environment and are only €16.99 for a pair so super affordable. We’ll deffo be picking up a pair.

The trainers are PFI-certified, meaning that they are made from 100 percent recycled plastics collected from beaches, islands, and coastal regions. So when you wear them, you know that you will have help to reduce the 12.7 million tonnes of plastic waste that is deposited in oceans every single year, according to the World Economic Forum.

These shoes aren’t just great for the environment, though, they are also excellent for your feet (which is good news with them being shoes and all). They are made with memory foam insoles that adapt perfectly to your feet and they have a textile lining that makes them lovely and comfy. They also have a breathable knitted upper section and a lightweight sole so you’ll have no problem taking these out for a jog or using them for your daily exercise routine.
