Meghan Markle’s styling trick for wearing separates is one we’ve done for nights out for years

One of the clearest ways that Meghan Markle has established her signature style since becoming a royal is by wearing pants and skirts.

It may not sound that radical but the other prominent women in the royal family, from the queen and Kate Middleton to Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, are seldom spotted at official engagements wearing anything other than a dress. Meghan, on the other hand, has an almost businesslike take on royal dressing. We regularly see her in key items like wide-leg trousers, pant suits and midi-length skirts. Her sartorial choices have earned her comparisons with the woman who would have been her mother-in-law, Princess Diana, who also liked to look sharp. Finding pieces to go on Meghan's top half with all these pants and skirts could prove tricky as she'd want to avoid anything that would move or that she'd have to fix throughout the day. But the duchess has it sussed - she loves a good bodysuit. The result is outfits that look streamlined and tailored, as stylist Alexandra Fullerton told The Daily Mail. "Meghan is very aware of her own style and as someone who favours sleek, chic silhouettes the bodysuit is the perfect option for her. "Bodysuits are a very smart way of dressing as they never bunch or ruche under outfits, meaning she can get on with the business of being a duchess, rather than worrying that her top is untucking itself." It's something we've all been doing forever (you can't beat a bodysuit and jeans combo for a night out) so we're pleased that Meghan is on board now too.
