Need an outfit for a spring or summer wedding? These five looks from Arnotts are your answer

Leslie Ann Horgan

When you’re in the wedding zone – that handful of years when it seems as though every single weekend is dedicated different happy couple – there can be a lot of shopping required.

As a wedding guest, not only do you need something to wear on the Big Day itself, chances are you’ll also require night before and morning after/day two outfits.

A few years ago, the done thing was to buy something new to wear to every wedding – you couldn’t let your Instagram grid get boring. Now, thankfully, we’ve all copped on to the sustainability message and we’re shopping less and sharing and rewearing more.

‘Buying less but buying better’ is what fashion experts recommend as a key aspect of creating a sustainable wardrobe. In practice that means instead of picking up 10 different cheap garments from your favourite fast fashion brand, you save up and invest the same money in one more expensive piece.

Not only are you cutting down on the actual number of clothes you own, but you’re investing in better quality fabrics that will last for years. Over the course of those few years, the cost per wear can actually make that designer dress much better value than its throwaway counterpart.

You’ll be applauded for showing your sustainable credentials and wearing the same outfit again (Kate Middleton does it all the time!) and if you feel the need to shake things up, try styling it in a new way with bags, shoes and accessories.

For an investment piece that will see you through this year’s wedding season, take a look at Arnotts. This week the Dublin department store showcased its new spring/summer collection at a runway show.

As well as plenty of options for day to day wear, the collection features some gorgeous pieces that would be absolutely perfect for spring and summer weddings, and can be worn again and again. Below are five of our favourites.

1. Tiered pleated dress with belt, €285, Essential Antwerp

2. Spaghetti strap dress, €310, Tara Jarmon

3. Paisley dress, €310, Marella

4. Polka dot dress, €300, Aideen Bodkin

5. Pleated skirt, €177, Max & Co. Vest, €115, Reiss.
