The much anticipated Limerick School of Art & Design, LIT, Fashion Show, in partnership with Bord Gáis Networks, takes place this Thursday 16th May followed by the Fashion Seminar on Friday May 17th at The Milk Market, Cornmarket Row, Limerick City, providing the perfect backdrop to showcase awe-inspiring new designs by the next generation of Irish fashion designers.
19 Final Year Students will showcase their collections on the night. These students have recently completed work placements which have taken them all over the world to prestigious design houses such as Sharon Wauchob Paris, Barbara I Gongini Denmark, Alexander Wang New York, Phillip Treacy London and Amit Aggarwal India.
This year promises to be an extraordinary year as the event will form part of “The Gathering 2013” as a selection of internationally renowned LSAD alumni Designers have been invited to showcase their work at the Fashion Show and on Friday share their experience at the Fashion Seminar. Internationally renowned designers who have already confirmed for the event include, Joanne Hynes, Natalie B. Coleman, Tim Ryan and Danielle Romeril. Students and the general public will have access to these designers during seminars and workshops throughout the day. “Electronic sheep” knitwear will also be showing at the show and providing a seminar talk.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for LSAD, and Limerick City, to reconnect with our graduates and for them to share their wealth of knowledge with current students and the general public alike” states Anne Melinn, Head of Fashion in LSAD.
The event is sponsored by Bord Gáis Networks and forms part of a two-year partnership with LSAD. “Bord Gáis Networks has a strong ethos of education, innovation and design,” says Sean Casey, Acting Managing Director of Bord Gáis Networks, “and support of the communities in which we operate is very important to us. We have a long and proud history in Limerick so we are delighted to partner with LSAD to support budding Irish design talent and to play a part in the drive to promote Limerick City as an international centre for fashion education and excellence.”
A Highlight of this year’s Fashion Show will be the announcement of three significant Awards following the presentation and judging of the final year collections
1. “The Bord Gáis Networks Award for most innovative use of fabric within a collection”.
2. “The AIB Business Development Award” which includes a bursary and a year’s mentoring programme.
3. “The Blarney Woollen Mills Knitwear Graduate Design Award” which includes a bursary and an internship for one year at Blarney Woollen Mills.
The Limerick School of Art & Design LIT Fashion Show, Thursday 16th May 2013 and Fashion Seminar on Friday 17th at The Milk Market. Tickets for both events are available now and priced at €30 each or family rate of four tickets for €100 for the May 16th.
