The brand, which has been on the scene since 2006, will shut down its site in January 2018 and instead, will focus on selling through its own stores. The shop has 40 stores in the UK, and 40 more internationally, while also planning to build "several more" by the end of this year.
Lipsy was bought by Next in 2008, and from 2018, when shoppers log onto the Lipsy website, they will be directed to the Next website instead. It said in a statement, “As the vast majority of online sales for both Lipsy and brands are driven through the Next website, we have taken a decision to close Lipsy.co.uk with effect from January 2018. “We will continue to focus on accelerating the growth of Lipsy and Lipsy & Co brands on Next online," it added.
