Shoppers in Ireland have been warned to keep an eye out for a scam email offering €750 to spend at Penneys for “absolutely free.”

The email, which was shared on Twitter earlier this morning, asks for contact details – including a mobile number – in return for a PIN that will let you collect the “prize.”

Twitter user TechBuzz Ireland shared the email online this morning, urging social media users to “watch out.”

It reads:

“Hey, I’m very much excited to share with you that you have a chance to win €750 absolutely free.

“Happy thing is no need your credit card. Just put your mobile number here. We will send you a PIN, simply submit that PIN to rise your chance of winning free €750 to spend at Penny’s.

“For more details you can visit our blog site.”

The website – a “free shopping” blog – includes a photo which poses as the Penneys website. It gives users the option to enter the mobile phone number.

A spokesperson for Primark replied to the original tweet, confirming that the offer is not from their company. They added that they are also investigating the scam.

“This is not run by us. Thanks for letting us know, we are looking into this,” they wrote.
