So this is what people actually mean when they compliment your clothes

WAY harsh.

Cathy Donohue

INTERESTING.

As a nation, we are notoriously bad at accepting compliments and have a tendency to brush them off.

According to new research, and it should be noted that this is rather a negative viewpoint, people paying said compliments aren’t always sincere.

Ouch.

Spotted on The Debrief, a new study conducted by digital marketing agency Kaizen Search found that 53% of people lie when they compliment someone’s ensemble.

Yup, over half the people surveyed are apparently lying when they say something nice about an outfit worn by a colleague/friend/complete stranger.

Now look, we’ll take the info with a pinch of salt because some people are actually genuine but it’s an interesting statistic all the same.

Apparently, the reason for lying is because the outfit in question is usually out of the ordinary and the person doesn’t know what to say so they panic and blurt out a compliment.

What do you think, would you agree and have you ever found yourself in that awkward position?
