Why Meghan actually had her €63K dress altered for her engagement shoot

We prefer her alterations!

How divine.

Yesterday Prince Harry and Meghan Markle surprised us by releasing the official engagement photos. The two looked as smitten as can be in the three images which showed them gazing lovingly into each others eyes.

But as we are magpies for fashion, all our eyes were once again on Meghan’s dress. This time however it wasn’t a high street steal or a semi-designer/semi-affordable buy… no no. This dress was most certainly fit for a royal as Meghan wore none other than a risqué 2016 couture Ralph & Russo gown worth an estimated £56,000 (€63,200).

Yes, according to the Mail Online, Meghan’s gown cost a pretty penny as she posed alongside her fiancé for pictures at Frogmore House in Windsor. And not only that, it looks like Meghan also altered the dress to include a nude panel inside the chest region of the dress which otherwise would of been see-through. Yikes.

The images caused quite a stir when they were released online yesterday as people were shocked but also loved the level of intimacy between the two.

We however couldn’t keep our eyes off her engagement ring which was chosen by Harry and holds sentimental value to the pair.

The images of the pair were taken by photographer Alexi Lubomirksi, who thanked the couple on his own Instagram by saying:

“A huge thank you to His Royal Highness Prince Harry and Ms Markle, for allowing me to take their official engagement portraits. Not only was it an incredible honour, but also an immense privilege to be invited to share and be a witness to this young couple’s love for each other. I cannot help but smile when I look at the photos that we took.”

The countdown to the big day is officially on and we cannot wait to see the dress of choice come May 19.
