Bridal boutiques aren't the only way to go, of course.
More and more high street stores and affordable brands are getting into the wedding dress game with some genuinely stunning collections.
The latest retailer to do so is shopping channel QVC, which has just brought out its own wedding gown that you could easily believe cost a few grand.
The dress is in a sheath style and has a gently draped cowl neckline at the front and a low back and a long train trimmed with delicate frilling.
Its silk-look material is actually viscose and is in an off-white/ ivory shade, a colour that (thanks to David Emanuel) I know flatters far more skin tones than classic white does.
It comes in sizes XS to XL and is even machine washable, if you fancy cleaning it yourself.
The dress is a collaboration with Ghost London and costs £695 (€781.87). Check it out here.
