Royal Ascot Has Introduced Some Rather Strict Style Rules

We don't think these would work at the Galway races!

Royal Ascot, one of the UK’s leading racecourses, has launched its annual style guide ahead of the five-day racing extravaganza in June.

According to The Telegraph, the event has been in existence for over 305 years and of course, the style rules are not to be messed with.

Ascot’s commercial director, Juliet Slot, said that while Ascot follows trends like jumpsuits, certain items are off limits.

Trousers suits are permitted but only when “of full-length and matching colour and material” but in contrast, culottes are a bit of a no-no.

Sheer might be one of fashion’s most popular trends but the style maestros at Ascot aren’t on the same page and it’s off the table this year.

When it comes to accessories, hats are traditional garb for racing events but it must have “a solid base covering at least 4 inches of the head”.

Apparently, racegoers aren’t deterred by the rules and Juliet says: “we’re finding that more and more people actually want to conform to the code”.
